The famed actor wrote his biography in 1928 for Photoplay magazine in the June to September issues. We have resurrected these memoirs but also utilized 21st century technology by using AI to allow Mr. Gilbert to tell us his autobiography in his own words. We cloned his voice from the soundtrack of QUEEN CHRISTINA (1933). The words you hear him speak have been taken verbatim from his Photoplay biography series.

Excellent work on recreating John Gilbert’s voice and bringing his interview to life! I also like the one you did with John Barrymore, who happens to be my favorite silent film actor because of you! I read your book “The Classic John Barrymore Swashbucklers of the 1920s” and have been hooked on him ever since. Thank you for your great work!
Cindy, thank you for your kind words. I receive very little feedback on my posts so I assume if nobody is complaining my posts must be OK. Barrymore made a lot of good films both silent and sound. Many of these can be seen on Youtube. He also did a lot of radio work from the mid-1930s on including Shakespeare. By 1940 he was doing comedy spoofing himself on the Rudy Vallee show. There’s one show with brother Lionel that’s a classic. I believe it’s on Youtube.
